<Mental Health Support and Psychoeducation to the communities>
Updated: 12 hours ago

13 years in community mental health—and this is one of my happiest moments.
After more than 13 years of working on the front lines with underserved communities, I finally developed a psychoeducation workbook created specifically to bring mental health support closer to people who may not have easy access to traditional care.
Over the years, I have worked alongside people from underserved and minority communities, including those who have experienced unemployment, homelessness, and many other barriers that can make accessing mental health care difficult.
One thing has become very clear to me: access to traditional mental health care is not equal. But that should not mean opportunities to understand our mental health, connect with ourselves, and nurture our well-being should be limited too.
I am especially grateful to the clinicians at our nonprofit organization, Blue Humming Therapy(https://bluehummingtherapy.org/ ), who also helped translate the workbook into Spanish and will begin bringing it directly into our communities this week.
I am also deeply thankful to the community organizations that have opened their doors to us and continue to collaborate with us. Mental health support becomes much more meaningful when it grows within the places where people already live, work, gather, and trust one another.
Seeing this workbook finally reach the community is one of the happiest moments of my work.
I hope we can continue creating more ways for mental health support to reach people who have too often been left outside the traditional system.
Mental health care may not be equally accessible yet.
But true wellness should never belong only to those who can access the system.
