BIO

Manami Yamamoto is the Founder and Director of Blue Humming Therapy. She is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and an Expressive Arts Therapist, and she also founded and directs the Mental Health Environment Improvement Project. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology and Expressive Arts Therapy from the California Institute of Integral Studies.

Manami is listed in Who’s Who in America (2025), was nominated for the Fluxx Global Pioneer Award (2025), and received the Brainz 500 Global Award (2021) for her contributions to holistic and global wellness.

Drawing from extensive experience in hospitals, schools, counseling centers, and community-based settings in the United States, she offers counseling for a wide range of concerns, including depression, anxiety, trauma, family and relationship issues, and diversity-related stress. Her work is grounded in supporting highly diverse clients and communities, with special care for underserved populations and minorities across race, culture, socioeconomic background, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, and psychological or physical abilities. She is committed to honoring each client’s lived reality and the cultural contexts that shape wellbeing.

Rather than relying only on traditional mental health frameworks, Manami collaborates with clients and communities to find the most meaningful and effective support for them. She integrates creativity, expressive arts, and flexible, culturally responsive approaches to co-create care that feels accessible, humane, and sustainable. Her guiding philosophy encourages a shift from fixing mental health problems to nurturing the true wellness that already lives within us. Through this lens, she helps clients reconnect with their inner resources, strength, and resilience, enabling them to build lasting pathways to healing and growth.

In addition to her clinical practice, she provides seminars, lectures, and training for companies, schools, and organizations in the United States and internationally, focusing on psychoeducation and reducing barriers to care. Since the Covid 19 pandemic, her advocacy and community work have expanded beyond the US to Japan and India, where she continues to support minority communities and promote environments where mental health support is available across borders.

Her international collaborations have been featured globally, reflecting her ongoing mission to address bias and stigma and to help create a world where mental health support is equally accessible to all.
